National Carers Card Now Accepted for Carer Tickets and Concessions at 12 Venues

We're delighted to announce a major new benefit for National Carers Card holders: 12 venues across the UK now accept the National Carers Card as evidence of eligibility for free carer tickets and/or concessions.

This marks an exciting milestone for the National Carers Card and an important step forward in making life easier for unpaid carers. The National Carers Card is the first carers card scheme to be accepted at major UK venues for carer tickets and concessions.

Free Tickets for Carers: Making Access Easier

For years, one of the most valued benefits of our sister scheme, the National Disability Card, has been its acceptance at a growing list of more than 600 attractions, venues and leisure centres as evidence of eligibility for carer tickets and concessions.

‍

But until now, carers accompanying a disabled visitor may have found themselves gathering paperwork, locating documents or explaining sensitive personal circumstances in order to access the support available.

‍

The National Carers Card changes that. Card holders can now simply present their card at participating venues instead of having to rely on disability-related documents carried by the person they support. The result is a more streamlined day out for many families and carers who provide vital support every day.

Why This Matters

Unpaid carers in particular face a host of additional financial pressures which put up barriers to accessing leisure activities.

‍

Companion and carer tickets are provided by venues to enable access for disabled visitors who require assistance. 

‍

In practice, they also represent a meaningful saving for many families where it is a parent, spouse, partner or other family member who accompanies the disabled visitor.

‍

By creating a recognised and trusted form of identification for carers, we're helping to reduce administrative barriers, better recognise the invaluable role carers play, and facilitate easier access to venues for disabled people and their families.
