Using your card to show you're a carer

Show your card whenever you'd find it helpful for others to know you're a carer - avoid awkward conversations, judgement, or questions, and get the help and understanding you need. With its instantly recognisable International Symbol of Access, the card speaks for you.

On public transport

Show your card or wear on a lanyard to let fellow passengers know you may need assistance, or a seat next to the person you care for.

At airports

Show your card or wear on a lanyard to get recognised and stay visible to staff, who may direct you to the right lane, or help you avoid a queue. Fellow passengers can be more understanding when they see the card.

At events or venues

Show your card to staff and fellow guests: let others know you need assistance, or even just patience - without going into symptoms or medical info.

In shops

Show your card to staff and fellow visitors to let them know you may need extra patience, understanding or help.

“The National Carers Card has made the experience of accompanying my disabled wife to events and places much easier. I no longer feel I have to make a justification to accompany her. The card makes it a lot easier by making a clear statement - I am a carer - I have a purpose even if you don’t recognise or understand it.”
